Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery
The Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery specializes in the surgical treatment of the heart, blood vessels, and thoracic organs. It addresses conditions affecting vital structures in the chest—such as the heart, lungs, esophagus, aorta, and bronchi—as well as the mediastinum, diaphragm, pleura, and chest wall, primarily through surgical intervention.
In addition, the department diagnoses, treats, and performs surgery for hyperhidrosis, varicose veins, and other vascular disorders. H+ Yangji Hospital provides surgical care for most thoracic and vascular conditions, excluding cardiac surgeries. This includes the management of common thoracic diseases, pneumothorax, hyperhidrosis, emergency thoracic trauma, arteriovenous fistula creation for hemodialysis, peripheral arterial disease, and varicose veins.
Major Clinical Areas
01. Pneumothorax: Treatment and surgery via chest tube insertion or/and thoracoscopy, depending on severity.
02. Varicose veins: Diagnosis with ultrasound and minimally invasive laser surgery; treatment of small-vessel varicose veins using advanced equipment.
03. Hyperhidrosis: Endoscopic surgery for hyperhidrosis.
04. Arteriovenous fistula surgery for hemodialysis: Using ultrasound, the most suitable blood vessel is identified for surgery, which can be performed on an outpatient basis with same-day discharge.
05. Lower extremity arterial disease: In cases of impaired blood circulation due to stenosis or occlusion of the lower extremity arteries, interventional therapy is performed to restore vessel patency, and vascular bypass surgery is carried out when necessary to improve blood flow to the legs.
06. Thoracic trauma: Rapid emergency diagnosis by emergency medicine specialists, followed by precise, detailed specialized treatment.
