Orthopedic Surgery
Compared to internal medicine, which primarily uses medication therapy, surgery is a branch of medicine that mainly treats deformities, trauma, inflammation, and tumors through operative methods. Surgical specialties include general surgery (covering basic surgical fields and abdominal surgery), thoracic surgery (including pulmonary and cardiac surgery), neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery (involving the musculoskeletal system such as bones and muscles), and plastic surgery (for the correction and reconstruction of surface deformities). In addition, gynecology, urology, otolaryngology, and ophthalmology are also considered surgical disciplines.
